| Colin Goh (Singapore) Colin, 45, began his fitness career while serving in the Singapore Armed Forces. A certified boxing and rugby coach for the military supplemented his steady diet of survival and first-aid skills in combat training and extreme sports. Weight-gaining, strength and conditioning, bodybuilding and nutrition are Colin’s forte, making him an accomplished Club Manager of Singapore’s number one club during his prime. His years of sales experience with Nautilus, Lifefitness, Polar Heart Rate Monitors, Cybex and Keiser has made a qualified seminar speaker for local schools and sports institutions not only as a trainer, but, as a country sales manager for Asia Pacific. Currently, Colin keeps his keen appetite for outdoors alive by combining weight- training with a multi-sports program. He has taken in numerous overseas and local triathlons and other extreme sports. Shane Harrisson (USA) He is the leading Specialist in Inversion Therapy in the USA and Europe working for Inversion International. Apart from holding an MBA, he spent many years as a turn around specialist in both operations and finance. He is a qualified personal trainer and has worked in Sports and Injury Rehabilitation in New Zealand. Kinnie Ho (Australia) Kinnie's philosophy is celebrate diversity and explore new things in life. He infuses his workshops and training sessions with a sense of humour and fun borne out of his Australian upbringing as well as the hard work and dedication given to him by his Chinese ancestry. His formal education has provided him with a Bachelor of Science (Honours), a Master of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) and a Certificate IV in Assessment, Workplace and Training. Kinnie's professional career is as diverse as his background, with many years of experience working across the life sciences, hospitality and commerce. Kinnie is currently based in Hong Kong, instructing group exercise as a freelancer and carrying out consulting work to a private firm in the area of biotechnology. In previous roles he has been the Education Coordinator for Australian Fitness Network, a leading registered training organization, and manager of a private fitness centre in Sydney. In these positions he has overseen government standards of compliance in education curriculum delivery, the provision of focused corporate exercise training, and the growth of a business in all areas of its operation. With over ten years of teaching group fitness classes (including Step, Dance Aerobics, and Pre-Choreography to name a few) Kinnie blends these skills with his passion for modern dance and jazz to make a truely enjoyable learning environment. He holds certifications with MadDog and Les Mills. Kinnie brings a youthful outlook with a wealth of life experience to his workshops and is looking forward once more to presenting at Fitness Network Philippines (FitPhil). Star Trac Fitness Asia- Business Development Manager, Southeast Asia (1st year). Anthony Peterson (United Kingdom) Educated in England, Anthony Peterson began his 22-year career in the UK’s main frame computer industry. In 1981, after relocating to the US, Peterson joined Memorex/Telex Corporation handling Northwest regional sales. In 1982, he moved to a position at Concurrent Computer Corporation (Perkin Elmer), where his successful management career began. In 1992, Peterson was hired by Precor USA to start its first overseas subsidiary, Precor UK. He relocated to the UK with his family and assumed the role of Managing Director. Peterson built the company into a successful and profitable business unit with a large warehouse/office space and sixteen employees. With his successful assignment at Precor completed, Peterson joined Nautilus as Vice President of International Sales, where his international sales career “took off”. He increased Nautilus sales in South America and the Pacific Rim by 91%. Today, as Vice President of International Sales and Marketing at Keiser, Peterson’s goal is to establish a successful and profitable international distribution network for Keiser; to train distributors and hopes that by bringing synergy to the group he will build a dedicated, focused group of distributors who will build and share on their success with Keiser. Keiser plans to implement many new and innovative programs and offerings for its distributors over the next year, which will make them more successful. |
| Mark Slavin (USA) Over 17 years of experience and continued study in the health and fitness industry Lecturer on Resistance Training, Continuing Education, and Certification Programs for Magazine and Newspaper Articles International Continuing Education Lecturer and Spokesperson for Health Clubs and Fitness Associations. Dr. Mark Slavin is the former Director of Certification for The National Academy of Sports Medicine and current International Director of the R.T.S (Resistance Training Specialist) program. As a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine, Dr. Slavin utilizes his vast knowledge of physiology and biomechanics, combined with an easy to understand and fun presentation style, to develop progressive education and standards for personal trainers throughout Asia and Latin America. Dr Slavin is currently a much sought-after educator for resistance training and biomechanics, as well as a program developer for personal training. His passion is the driving force in his quest for excellence in resistance training, with which he travels the globe imparting his knowledge at various health clubs and educational organizations in need of awareness expansion. Mirko Turla (Hong Kong) Mirko Turla is an International Presenter and Instructor Trainer for Pilates, Group Exercise and Water Fitness. He is a regular on the International Fitness Conventions circuit and has presented workshops and master classes across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and the USA. Mirko is also a Polestar Pilates Teacher Trainer and conducts training courses internationally. He lectures the Water Aerobics and Group Exercise Certification Courses at the Asian Academy for Sports and Fitness Professionals in Hong Kong (AASFP) and he is regularly invited to conduct in-house aqua training for Chiva-Som International Spa in Thailand. He is the author of numerous articles regularly featured in fitness magazines in Australia and New Zealand. When Mirko is not presenting and travelling, he shares his ideas and passion for fitness with participants who attend his many classes. Mirko teaches a wide variety of classes including Step, Hi/Lo, Body Conditioning, Circuit, Fitball, Indoor cycling, Aqua Fitness, Barbell, Kickboxing and Pilates (mat and equipment) to people of all ages and fitness Vanessa Vassallo (Australia) From Italy to Asia, Australia to Germany, Vanessa is a globe-trotting fitness presenter who brings vitality and energy to every project. Presently based in Hong Kong and Group Exercise Manager for Pure Fitness, Vanessa brings a background in gymnastics and dance to her dynamic presentations. She is a former Australian Aerobics Champion and television presenter for the fitness program “X-Morning” in Thailand. Fitness Network Australia wrote in their August 2004 magazine: “FILEX [was the] debut of the very vivacious Vanessa Vassallo, who rocked the funk out of Ballroom 1 on Saturday morning!” Vanessa is an Australian Fitness Accreditation Council (AFAC) certified Fitness Instructor since 1999. She is also an NASM qualified Personal Trainer with a Pre-Natal Exercise Certification. She is a group cycling instructor with Reebok, Shwinn, and Keiser as well as a Les Mills instructor. Luis Aragon-Vargas (Costa Rica) Dr. Luis Aragón-Vargas is a senior scientist at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) in San Jose, Costa Rica, where he oversees the scientific efforts of the institute in Latin America and Europe. As an essential part of his duties, he presents at international conferences and supervises several research projects on hydration. He also holds a part- time appointment as professor of physical education, Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). He is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) where he has served in different capacities, including the International Relations Committee. Before joining GSSI in 1997, Dr. Aragón worked full-time for UCR and managed his own fitness consulting business. His university responsibilities included teaching undergraduate exercise and nutrition classes, graduate exercise physiology and biomechanics classes. His research has focused on two different areas: the biomechanics of the vertical jump and ergogenic aids for human performance. He has published several scientific papers in English and Spanish along with a Spanish textbook of exercise physiology. He is also a member of the GSSI Board of Advisors for Science and Education (BASE)-Latin America. Born in Costa Rica, Dr. Aragón obtained his bachelor’s in physical education from the UCR in 1980 and traveled to North America for graduate work. After receiving his master’s degree from the University of Michigan (physical education-exercise physiology), Aragón returned to Costa Rica to teach at UCR and work as a fitness program director for the Cariari International Country Club and later for Multispa Corobici. Dr. Aragón combined his experience in the fitness industry with his scientific training to establish his own fitness consulting business in 1988. In 1990, he returned to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan where he worked at the Fitness Research Center and the Center for Human Motor Research. He graduated with a doctorate in exercise science and a certificate of graduate studies in worksite health promotion in 1994. |
