ABOUT FITNESS NETWORK PHILIPPINES
|
Fitness Network Philippines (FitPhil) is the new name of the Association of Fitness Professionals of the Philippines (AFPP). This change was
borne out of the desire of the incumbent AFPP Board of Directors to expand the scope of the association to welcome not only fitness
professionals but also enthusiasts, as well as others from the allied professions such as medicine, health care, education, nutrition, sports
conditioning and athletic training. FitPhil continues the reputation of the AFPP as the oldest existing and most respected fitness organization in
the country.
Beginnings. In 1990, fitness professionals, Donna Dowling, Ley Fernandez, Tina Juan, Vangie Johnson, Lea Ledesma, Cynthia Norton, Donna
Paras, Shirley Quejada, Mayette Quitco, and Anna Unson envisioned a “total” fitness association in the country. Through the years, with the call for
“oneness in fitness”, the AFPP has consolidated fitness professionals all over the country and has pushed industry standards to higher levels.
Education. To date, through its various instructors’ courses, the AFPP has trained hundreds of would-be fitness professionals, equipping them
with solid knowledge and technical competency to pursue a fitness career. It maintains a year-round calendar of activities reaching-out to anyone
and everyone into fitness. The local seminars and outreach tours have provided continuing education to fitness professionals from all over the
country, equipping them with advanced knowledge and competitive teaching skills through the latest in exercise science and trends as presented
by the country’s most respected fitness and health leaders as well as top international presenters. It is the only fitness association in the
Philippines recognized by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) to give continuing
education credits and to administer its certification examinations.
Affiliation. Pursuing the vision to bring Filipino fitness professionals to international standards, the AFPP has affiliated with the most respected
fitness organizations around the world. Its affiliations with the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the Aerobics and Fitness Association of
America (AFAA), Sarah's City Workout-EDU, and other organizations have made it possible to bring world-class expertise to the country. In
addition, top international presenters brought-in by the association have shared their expertise and experience with their local counterparts in
seminars and workshops.
Promotion. In the public arena, the AFPP has hosted various fitness and sports events as well as educational campaigns in schools and fitness
centers. With more people realizing the need to live healthy lifestyles through exercise and proper nutrition, it is important that the fitness industry
is able to maintain its standards by providing competent fitness professionals to the public. The AFPP has consistently fulfilled that need.
Governed by a Board of Trustees and by an elected Board of Directors serving 2-year terms responsible to thousands of members from all over
the country, the AFPP, now calling itself Fitness Network Philippines (FitPhil), continues to be at the forefront of the fitness industry.
